Listen to Your Intuition

Did you grow up hearing people poopoo intuition? Many did. However, this mental faculty can save your life. As Gavin de Becker put it in his book The Gift of Fear, "Nature's geatest accomplishment, the human brain, is never more efficient or invested than when its host is at risk. Then, intuition is catapulted to another level entirely, a height at which it can accurately be called graceful, even miraculous. Intuition is the journey from A to Z without stopping at any other letter along the way. It is knowing without knowing why." And the author goes on to tell story after story of how individuals did or did not pay attention to their brain's intuition. How many times have you had an unexplainable sense about something and then tried rationally or logically to discount it? The brain is capable of taking in 10 million bits of data second for second, decoding the data, and then trying to convey information to you through emotion or through a heightened awareness. Bottom line? If you sense that something is wrong, pay attention and act on it.
