Cirrhosis, Obesity, and the Brain
Have you always considered cirrhosis of the liver to be a drinker's disease? At least 20 percent of all liver disease in the United States is now attributed to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, NAFLD. Obesity is a contributor to liver disease and obesity is bad for the brain. According to the Centers for Disease Control, approximately one half of the US adult population is overweight (BMI greater than 25) and one quarter of the US adult population is obese (BMI greater than 30).
