A Contented Mind

The brain and the body are one. That’s nothing new, you say. Actually it is a relatively new concept in some Western cultures. Studies have shown that there is a continual flow of biochemical information among all the cells in both the brain and the body. Research by Dr. Candace Pert (INH researcher and discoverer of opiate receptors in the human brain) has led her to assert that the body is the subconscious mind. Whatever goes on in the brain is acted out in the physical body. She coined the term bodymind to describe this unified communication and collaboration. In terms of health and high-level-wellness living, what is good for the brain is good for the body’s immune system, and vice versa. A contented bodymind may be key to thriving.
