BDD & Comorbid Conditions
Substance use disorders are often comorbid (co-occurring)
with body dysmorphic disorders. Alcohol and many othr drugs may be used to help the individual reduce feelings of anxiety, especially in social situations. The underlying cause of this disorder is elusive. The prognoses is linked with the degree of insight the person has in relation to disliking something about their appearance that others sometimes cannot even see. being used to reduce anxiety
