So what are emotions?
How do they differ from feelings? Let’s begin with emotions first. According to
Candace B Pert, PhD, both the brain and
body are part of the subconscious,
faithfully recording and reporting chemical
processes that enter our conscious
awareness only as we recognize them as
emotions. Think of emotions as cellular
signals that can be triggered by internal (thoughts) or external (environmental)
stimuli and are designed to:
- Get
your attention
- Give
you information by connecting the subconscious with the conscious
- Give
you energy
- Motivate
you to take appropriate action (if any is needed); otherwise to give you
the opportunity to learn something that might be very helpful in the
future.
